About the school

LINK Community Charter School

A deep commitment to educational equity since 1969. For over 50 years, Link Community Charter School has been a leader in education in Newark, providing an outstanding education for learners of all academic abilities by developing the mind, body and spirit through a strong curriculum, experiential learning, immersion in the arts, and an enduring commitment to Core Values; this will allow them to be successful in competitive high schools and become responsible and resourceful citizens who give back to others.

An education at Link provides the path for most students to attend competitive high schools – boarding and day (independent and Catholic) schools in NJ and around the country, as well as the magnet schools in and around Newark.

A small school environment with dedicated teachers and staff focused on Core Values, academic achievement, and personal growth is a recipe for student success! New Jersey State Learning Assessment scores for our 5th through 8th graders demonstrate that Link students are achieving and are on an upward trajectory of academic growth. Link scholars outperformed the state in English Language Arts (ELA) on the Spring 2024 NJSLA (for the second year in a row) and outpaced the state in academic growth from the previous year. Link’s growth was also greater than that of several large local high-performing network charter schools and our sending district schools.

An exciting journey from a dedicated middle school to a full elementary school for the greater community. Link serves students from Newark, Irvington, Orange, and East Orange, NJ at two campuses: Kindergarten/Elementary School at 23 Pennsylvania Ave. and the Middle School at 230 Halsey St. Originally a middle school, Link will complete its expansion to include an elementary school, making it a full K-8 school in the fall of 2025.
